It’s that time of the year again – back to school! As a parent, you want to make sure your child and you have everything needed to start the school year off right. Here’s a checklist to help you get organized. I have also created a printable checklist (refer the image) that you can print and keep handy!
School supplies: Make sure your child has all the necessary school supplies, such as notebooks, pens, pencils, erasers, rulers, backpacks, water bottles, etc. Check with the school to see if they have any specific requirements.
Uniforms: Review your child’s wardrobe and make sure their uniforms fit well and if they have enough clothes for the school year. Consider getting a few extra sets of uniforms or clothes for the rainy season.
Lunch supplies: If your child takes a packed lunch to school, make sure you have enough ingredients, containers, lunch bags, and utensils.
Medical needs: If your child has any medical needs, such as allergies or asthma, speak with the school nurse to make sure you have everything you need, such as medication and medical forms.
Transportation: If your child takes a bus to school, make sure you have paid the booking amount, checked their bus schedule and filled in any necessary transportation forms. If you drive your child to school, make sure you have a reliable car and the fuel is enough.
Also check if they have any vaccinations overdue. For girls, check if they have enough amount of hair bands and clips if permitted colour as per the school.
Trim the nails.
Set their morning and lunch schedule.
Build excitement about the new school year. And even if you are stressed about the new schedule and preparations, don’t let them know. They need to enjoy the school and be excited about the new class, teachers and meeting their friends again!
